Disney has taken great strides to make the parks more inclusive by retheming Splash Mountain to the Princess and the Frog. But it shouldn’t stop there! Disney’s Haunted Mansion features a scene in the iconic stretching room that displays a hanging body. Why is this problematic?

1) The scene makes light of and pokes fun at suicide. It’s described as the host’s “way out”.

2) The Scene is gruesome for younger audiences. There is no age restriction on the Haunted Mansion, so everyone is exposed to it.

3) The Scene prominently features a noose.

Changing this scene would be simple and easy for Disney to do. It’s a concern for all ages, but particularly for the younger audience. This imagery needs to be removed!
