White silence is violence.  On June 18th, 2020, on the Eve of the 155th Juneteenth Celebration, Rep. Joe Kennedy III revealed to the public that he had maintained his membership in the notoriously racist Kappa Alpha Order (KA) fraternity from his college years at Stanford up until a year ago.  Kennedy’s quiet, long-term support for this hate group is violence, too.  Therefore, he must drop out of the U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts.

The Kappa Alpha Order fraternity was founded by former Confederates in 1865, the year the Civil War ended.  Their mission statement, to this day, states they seek to promote, “gentlemanly conduct as inspired by Robert E. Lee, our spiritual founder.”  But Robert E. Lee was a brutal slave owner and traitor to the U.S. At this moment, good people all over the U.S. are standing up for Black Lives and demanding Lee monuments come down.  

The KA fraternity, venerating Lee, has a 150+ year history of promoting white supremacy and terrorizing Black people and other people of color.  The examples are too myriad to list but KA members even recently desecrated the Emmett Till memorial in Mississippi, according to an investigation by ProPublica.

Joe Kennedy III could have joined any fraternity. But he chose the single most racist one in the U.S. and maintained his membership for nearly 20 years after that. He stayed in this racist frat after Trayvon Martin’s murder, after Eric Garner’s murder and Michael Brown’s and Freddy Gray and Alton Sterling and Philando Castile...Kennedy kept secretly supporting his white supremacist frat until quietly resigning in 2019, when he decided to run for U.S. Senate.  

That means he was a member of a hateful white supremacist organization for nearly 20 years and therefore, is unfit to serve as a U.S Senator from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Please join us and demand Joe Kennedy III drop out of the U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts because Black Lives Matter and white silence is violence.
