本會Animalsaver Hk就警方於下述日期的行動影響社區動物而作出譴責。

1. 2019年7月27日警方曾於西邊圍、南邊圍一帶與示威者對峙並發射催淚彈驅散人群。眾所週知元朗圍村一帶有大數目的流浪動物及放養社區動物，雖然理解警方需要使用一定數目的催淚彈以驅散示威者，然而警方在狹窄地方施放過多催淚彈, 會導致流浪動物因過度驚恐而失常或走失。再者，吸入過量催淚烟可導致動物死亡，此舉實是置動物的安危於不顧。

2. 2019年7月28日警方於示威活動中錯誤動用警犬。該晚警方在旺角因截查車輛而引起部份巿民圍觀。現場人潮擠擁，如一旦出現混亂情況，狗隻可能因過度驚恐而失控。 按現場觀察所見領犬員不但未能安撫狗隻的行為,更多次用警犬向羣眾作出挑釁行為。若示威活動中出動警犬對人對狗皆容易出現不穩定因素。本會認為無必要製造人與動物敵對的局面。

因此本會欲向警方表達我們的憂慮及不滿。警方不能以執法為由，公然違反《防止殘酷虐待動物條例》第169章。警方行為會影響向下一代宣揚愛護動物訊息的教育。

本會決定就此事去信警方作出正式投訴及網上聯署, 更不排除參與8.5大罷工並響應七區集會或遊行。

在此我們呼籲動保界團體或愛護動物朋友一同站出來響應

We, Animalsaver HK would like to condemn the police for harming community animals on the following dates.

1. On July 27, 2019, the police confronted the demonstrators in the west and around the south and fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. It is well known that Yuen Long has a large number of community animals. We understand that the force was in need of tear gas in order to disperse protestors, however, tear gas was continuously released in narrow places, causing the animals to panic and get lost. Nevertheless, inhalation of tear gas can lead to fatality of animals, such act is no doubt leaving their safety in the lurch.

2. On July 28, 2019, the police brought along police dogs during demonstrations, which is considered as a wrong decision. Due to the Stop and Search action of vehicles, there were a number of citizens surrounding the police. In case of any incidents, the dog may get panic and out of control. According to the observations on spot, the dog handlers not only failed to appease the dogs, but also used police dogs to make provocative actions to the crowd. If a police dog is dispatched during a demonstration, it is prone to instability. We believe that there is no need to create conflicts between citizens and animals.

Therefore, we would like to express our concern and dissatisfaction to the police. The police shall not violate the Cap.169 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance on the grounds of law enforcement. The police's behaviour will set a bad example to the educating the next generation about animal protection.

The Association decided to write to the police on this matter to make a formal complaint and online joint, not to mention participating in the 8.5 strike and responding to the seven district assembly or procession.

Here we call on all animal protection groups and animal lovers to stand up and respond.
