Reduce the Stress on UBC Students
Reduce the Stress on UBC Students
Why this petition matters
As we all know, 2020 really is an unprecedented time for students and faculty alike at UBC. This petition, specifically, would like the UBC Psychology department to waive all scaling requirements for classes during Winter Term I, but also offer the option for students to change their classes to a pass-fail to prevent further judgment on later disclosure of their transcripts to future employers, programs, and other endeavors.
We feel this petition represents the true meaning of the UBC Psychology department, specifically that it will be, "supportive to its members, which will enhance department culture and well-being for everyone, including being beneficial for hiring and retention." As the program aims to prepare students for entering a variety of fields, including mental health, we believe it is of supreme importance students receive support to reduce an increase in burnout, depression, anxiety, and all other forms of psychological distress from the circumstances of 2020. We believe this will help all members to best pursue their studies and continue to graduate students who are the best representation of a supportive program.
