Why this petition matters

Started by Becky Scott

Please sign this petition to help prevent the building of large warehouses on St James Way in Bishops Stortford in the Employment Area. There is still an opportunity to change the remit of the Employment Area. There are several reasons why this Industrial development is a concern:

  • The warehouses will be located close to the new Primary and Secondary Schools, so there is a risk for the safety of the children with fleets of lorries arriving constantly throughout the day.
  • Increased traffic on the ring road on St James Way in Bishops Stortford as this will be used as a direct link to the M11.
  • Increased risk of negative environmental factors on local communities including (but not limited to), increased noise and light pollution and reduced air quality (emissions from lorries, power generators for the buildings etc.)

Creating opportunities to provide jobs post COVID is a good thing for the economy but there are more suitable locations than next to houses and schools,  or more appropriate businesses than large industrial warehouses.
Please support this to help make a change and sustain our local environment for everyone’s health and well-being.
