COUNTY COMMSIONER MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MAY 18TH AT 1:30PM MST VIA ZOOM, LINKS BELOW

Plans of an Amusement Park to be built on Flathead Lake less than a week away from beginning the planning process on April 14th. As a resident, few of my neighbors were notified of this development a week ago, most of us finding out in the last 24 hours. This park would extend across the bend from West Shore State Park all the way to table bay on the mountainside. Montana residents have not been allowed to have their voice heard on a project that would have such adverse effects on the quality of life in the Flathead Valley. 

Montana is known and loved for its diverse wildlife and scenery, this project would completely undermine the harmony in nature that has been achieved through the PRESERVATION of these lands. Due to the massive scale of construction ENTIRE ECOSYSTEMS COULD BE DISPLACED. Animals would be forced off their refuge on the mountainside onto the neighboring Hway 93, rivers and streams that lead into Flathead Lake would be impacted and potentially be contaminated, the pollution (noise, air, plastic, etc.) of the environment would be immeasurable. Montanans and our guests don’t need a plastic playground, NATURE IS OUR PLAYGROUND. 

The safety of our residents is at risk. Highway 93 that leads into the Flathead valley is filled with curves and hills and car accidents are already very common. The congestion caused by this theme park would pack the highways EVEN MORE, leading to further accidents with emergency medical respondence and police stations being overloaded and miles away. 

How this project is being handled is setting a precedent for how future developments will play out. No amount of money this park will bring in could ever make up for the priceless value of our Montana lands. The speed and secrecy at which this development plan has been pushed, only underscores how horrific the negative effects will be not only to Lake County, the Flathead Valley, but Montana as a whole.
