Washington state is one of if not the only state to close all recreational fishing in the US. Both Tribal and commercial fishing in Washington are still permitted. Neighboring Oregon and Idaho are both open for resident recreational fishing.  Part of the stay home stay healthy order mandated getting outdoors for physical and mental health.  Fishing is an excellent outdoor activity which naturally lends itself to social distancing as it is required to avoid tangling gear when on shore.  Boat fishing is one of the most isolating of outdoor activities of all.   It is incumbent of our state government to allow activities which do not impose significant health risks.  Fishing in the Northwest is part of many families traditions and is a fun healthy activity that can be done safely.
