THE CASE

Wilfredo Pujols Jr. has been incarcerated since November 2007. Instead of being charged with involuntary manslaughter which he was promised by a detective for confessing to police for a hit and run, he was charged and convicted of a trumped up “felony murder” charge. He was sentenced to 15 years in 2009 with the eligibility of parole upon the required minimum completion of 85% of his sentence. 

POLICE BRUTALITY 

After Pujols Jr. pled guilty more facts in the case that were not presented to Pujols Jr. came to light when the parents of the victim filed a lawsuit against  the Independence Police Department. 

”They’re like roaches, they don’t die.” These words and officers laughing were caught on the dash cam of one of the police cruisers on scene as Chris Cooper laid on the ground bleeding. 

According to the lawsuit “officers responding to the scene at Noland and Osage were negligent for declaring Christopher Cooper “dead” before checking for a pulse.”

According to the victims mother, the police officer chasing Pujols “...ran over him and dragged him.” “The police didn’t want him to live. They just let him lie there with his life draining out of him and called him vile names and laughed at him.” -Cheryl Cooper Via Facebook

FIRING OF AFRICAN AMERICAN DETECTIVE 

Detective James Beale, the officer that extracted the confession from Pujols Jr. was fired by the Independence Police Department for allegedly falsifying police reports! 

This evidence was hidden from Pujols Jr.! 

Detective Beale was the only officer fired after the death of Christopher Cooper. Beale claims that he was really fired due to “racial discrimination” within the Independence Police Department.

SETTLEMENT OF LAWSUIT 

The parents of Christopher Cooper, 17, settled their lawsuit against the Independence, MO Police Department and Medevac MidAmerica Inc., an emergency response provider, for $275,000.  

PAROLE DENIED

Pujols Jr.'s eligible parole date was scheduled for August 2020. Earlier this year, Wilfredo Pujols Jr. was denied parole after being a model prisoner for almost 12 years!  

Wilfredo Pujols had never been to prison before this conviction and was known by many as a caring and loving human being. He has three daughters and a wife that need him and a huge family that miss him.

WE PRAY FOR RECONSIDERATION 

Pujols Jr. understands the circumstances of his actions and has shown remorse from the very beginning. From the day he plead guilty to the words expressed by him to the family of the victim and the judge in this case, he has shown that he’s truly sorry for his actions.

We ask for cooperation of the Missouri Department of Corrections and the Missouri Probation and Parole Board whom have the power to release Pujols Jr.

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS 

Upon his release we believe he will be a positive impact on our communities as he plans to become a public speaker and volunteer. He has completed his GED and has participated in many programs while inside of the system, while never failing a drug test. 

Pujols Jr. currently holds a position working with members of the Parole Board at his current institution. A position he holds due to his character and his ability to work with others. 

Further, his actions have shown that he is a reformed individual and is ready to come back to society. 

Wilfredo Pujols Jr. is currently being held at the Western Reception and Diagnostic Correctional Center in St. Joseph, MO. 

REQUEST FOR CLEMENCY 

Pujols Jr. has sent an application for clemency praying for the Governor of Missouri to review and grant him a pardon in this case. 

SOLUTION - GRANT PAROLE

We ask for your cooperation in signing this petition that will go before the Governor and the Missouri Department of Corrections, in order for them to know that we are all aware of this case and that we want Pujols Jr. free from prison on his first eligible release date set by the court and or the granting of the pardon sent to the Governor of Missouri.

DESPEDIDA DEL DETECTIVO AFROAMERICANO

El detective James Beale, el oficial que extrajo la confesión de Pujols Jr. fue despedido por el Departamento de Policía de Independence por supuestamente falsificar informes policiales! ¡Esta evidencia estaba oculta para Pujols Jr.! El detective Beale fue el único oficial despedido después de la muerte de Christopher Cooper. Beale afirma que fue realmente despedido debido a la "discriminación racial" dentro del Departamento de Policía de Independence. ACUERDO DE DEMANDA

LIBERTAD CONDICIONAL DENEGADA

Pujols Jr. ha enviado una solicitud de clemencia para que el gobernador de Missouri revise y le otorgue el perdón en este caso.
