Why this petition matters

Started by The Package Deli

UPS Drivers are tired of the rigid and inflexible work schedule under which they operate. Long hours and forced overtime keep drivers away from their families more often than the employed of other industries. This, coupled with the physically exhaustive nature of the job itself, leaves many employees feeling the need for more than 2-days per week for rest, recovery, and overall health and well-being.

We want a better work/life balance. We NEED a better work/life balance!

A new era is upon us. Technological innovation is allowing for a more dynamic work environment, and the 40-hour work week +OT is no longer an adequate or acceptable (only-option) model for an industry that is seeing great change and increase in the productivity and output of it's workers.

-----------------------------------------
We propose a new option for full-time drivers: Flex Schedule.
Flex schedule, if drivers so choose to participate, will be carried out as follows:

     -  Employer/employee signed agreements for temporary (1-week, 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, etc.) adjustments to work schedule and hours of service.

     -  Employee selects the days of the week they want to work (in advance), and agree to not deviate or miss work for the duration of the agreement. This drastically reduces occurences due to unscheduled call-ins.

***Drivers choosing to participate in Flex Schedule for extended periods assume all responsibility for how it may negatively impact their retirement and benefits***
-----------------------------------------

Together we stand in the hope of attaining a new and greater level of opportunity, flexibility, and work/life balance.
