Why this petition matters

Started by Diamond Harrington

Nineteen year old Marcellis Stinette was shot and killed by an officer of the Waukegan Police Department, October 20th, 2020. This horrific incident took place in the avenues of MLK and South, Waukegan, Illionois. All of this began over a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, Tafara Williams (mother of his child)  is in critical condition. Stinette died at the scene. Neither Williams and Stinette were resistant, threatening, or violent. There were no weapons involved on their end as well.

According to WKP, Williams (female driver) reversed the car in the officer's direction and that he'd "feared" for his life. The surviving victim and an eyewitness to the murder, have stories that completely contradicts the police officer's narrative. The family of Stinette wants answers. They are demanding the release of any bodycam footage that captured the moment which claimed Marcellis' life and have every officer involved, relieved of their duties and tried in court! Another family has to bury their loved one. Another child has to grow up without a father. Another black man has fell victim to the hands of a cop. Officers of the law are supposed to serve and protect our communities, not cause further damage to them.                                                                                                                                                                             Let's get justice for Marcellis. Say his name! Please sign this petition and share this campaign everywhere you possibly can.
