Why this petition matters

Started by Redbridge Against Academisation

The Diocese of Brentwood have decided to academise all their Catholic schools to form multi-academy trusts based in their deaneries. But there has been no fair consultation or open dialogue and the Diocese refuse to engage in discussion with any stakeholders. Head Teachers, teachers and Governing Bodies have been explicitly told NOT to discuss with parents and union representation amongst school staff is alarmingly low. This fundamental and irreversible change is not necessary and affects entire communities as it breaks up families of schools who already benefit from economies of scale and sharing good practice via local authorities. A survey of parents shows we don’t want it and the Diocese can offer no evidence that our schools will benefit from this change. We need our local communities to stand with us and demand our voices be heard.
