Dr. Katie Bouman led the creation of a new algorithm which produced the first image of a black hole. That image was publically released on April 10, 2019. We, the public viewers of this significant feat, wish to have that black hole named the "Eye of Bouman" in recognition of her work, and in the image's similarity to Tolkien's Eye of Sauron.

Recognition, in this way, will demonstrate to the world that women are significant members of the scientific community. Further, it will aid in encouraging young women to enter STEM fields.
