Bella Tan, a current Junior at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati Ohio recently shared her traumatic experience with her ex-boyfriend and current peer on her Instagram account. This experience is detailed in the post and contains her story alongside elements of rape and sexual assault. This act in itself was extremely brave as it opened her up to criticism and reopened past wounds. This act should be applauded and action should be taken against her abuser. Sadly, quite the opposite occurred.  

Quickly after sharing this post a decision was made to expel Bella Tan. The Walnut School board has decided to punish one of their students for sharing her story and simply telling the truth. This decision has not only punished Bella for telling the truth, but it has made it harder for others to come out with similar stories. Many students have been outraged by the choice made by Walnut in this situation for good reason. Signing this petition will hopefully put pressure on the Walnut School Board to not expel Bella.
