On behalf of the Nepali community living in New Zealand, we would like to draw your kind attention towards the second wave of COVID-19 crisis that is unfolding in Nepal. 

According to the emerging reports from various sources, including the New Zealand Herald, The Guardian and CNN, the recent developments paint a bleak picture that the country is rapidly heading towards a humanitarian crisis.

There are many complex aspects of the fast-developing and unpredictable second wave of the global pandemic. It seems like the health system in Nepal is overwhelmed to cope with the second wave. Nepalis all over the world, including those of us here in New Zealand, are doing our best to send help in Nepal.

Our two countries share a unique relationship and special bond due to the first ascent of Mt Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa. Nepalis all over the world respect New Zealand as a good friendly nation and New Zealanders as good friends. 

At this hour of need in Nepal, may we kindly request the Prime Minister and all MPs of the New Zealand Parliament for humanitarian assistance to enable Nepal to face the potential crisis that is developing fast.
