Tonight's NEC vote (25/01/2022) NOT to restore the whip to ex leader and one of the most principled and decent politicians in recent parliamentary history Jeremy Corbyn, should trigger the birth of a new eco Socialist party.

Yes, we live in a FPTP system, but that's no excuse to leave people without a political voice or vote. UKIP changed the entire direction of this country without ever winning a seat at a GE. Yes it had the backing of the establishment, but a party led by a socialist like Jeremy Corbyn, with such a high profile who generates huge amounts of respect across the entire left, would have the backing of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who are currently politically homeless. 

He has the strength to do this. He has the drive to do this. His age is no barrier, as evidenced by the way an older Bernie Sanders ran for president. And he knows what to expect now, and as leader of his own party, who would at least have his own party fully behind him, would be free to challenge the inevitable lies and smears that come from posing a threat to the establishment. 

The parliamentary Labour Party welcomes ex Tory MPs with open arms, while pouring scorn on socialist MPs and members. Many Socialists don't feel able to part with money to remain members of a party they no longer feel connected to. It would most likely be decades for anything to shift the current status quo in the Labour party. 

However we are living in a time of turmoil and crisis, particularly in regard to climate change, and we don't have decades. Only socialism has the policies to address these crisis. A new eco Socialist party would raise awareness of socialism and that in turn would push the Labour Party to adopt some of these policies. Without any political pressure from the left, it will simply be another Blairite New Labour Party, either making small, easily reversed positive changes, or carrying on in the direction which benefits the many, not the few. 

Please Jeremy, start a new party and give us something to fight for again.
