JOIN US IN URGING REPATRIATION OF 6 SOUTH KOREANS DETAINED IN NORTH KOREA UNDER FALSE ACCUSATION

Russian/Japanese/Spanish

After completion of the petition, we will deliver your voice to the Blue House (South Korean President Moon Jae-in), Speaker of National Assembly, and United Nations Human Rights Council.

We are a youth group called Save 6 Koreans. As a group of young South Koreans, we question the United Nations and the South Korean government’s lack of effort towards the repatriation of 6 South Koreans detained in North Korea.

The 6 detained South Koreans are:

1. Jung-wook Kim (Christian missionary, DETAINED for 7 years)

  1. Since 2007, missionary Kim ran three shelters in Dandong, China for North Korean defectors.
  2. Arrested and detained on 8th of Oct. 2013.
  3. Sentenced to a life of hard labour (10 hours of hard labour a day for 6 days a week in brutal condition) in 2014.
  4. Charged with spying, anti-state activities and illegal entry to North Korea.

2. Kuk-gi Kim (Christian missionary, DETAINED for 6 years)

  • Since 2003, pastor Kim ran a shelter in Dandong, China for North Korea defectors.
  • Arrested and detained in Oct. 2014 and then sentenced to a life of hard labour (10 hours of hard labour a day for 6 days a week in brutal condition) in June 2015.
  • Charged with state subversion, espionage, and illegal crossing of the border.

3. Chun-kil Choi (Christian missionary, DETAINED for 6 years)

  • He helped North Korean defectors, as a missionary, in China.
  • Arrested and detained in Oct. 2014 and then sentenced to a life of hard labour (10 hours of hard labour a day for 6 days a week in brutal condition) in June 2015.
  • Charged with state subversion, espionage, and illegal crossing of the border.

4. Won-ho Kim (North Korean defector who holds South Korean citizenship, DETAINED for 4 years)

  • Helped North Koreans as a missionary.
  • Little is known but South Korean media reported that he was abducted on the Chinese side of the border in March 2016.

 5. Hyun-chul Ko(North Korean defector who holds South Korean citizenship)

  • Details of his profile are unknown

6. Jin-woo Ham(North Korean defector who holds South Korean citizenship)

  • Details of his profile are unknown

Status Unidentifiable

Prior to their arrest, it is known that they, as missionaries, helped North Korean defectors who were facing danger and suffering from hunger in China. Jung-wook Kimwas running three shelters for North Korean defectors in China before his arrest in 2013.  It’s been 7 YEARS, they have been imprisonment, but the United Nations and South Korean government cannot even identify their statues.

We remember the unjustified death of Otto Warmbier. We CAN NOT WAIT ANYMORE!  It is known that missionary Jung Wook Kim suffered brutal torture as he resisted ideological education in North Korea. Join us in urging the UN and the South Korean government to bring him back to his family.

Silent Government

In 2018, South Korean President Moon Jae-in met with Kim Jong-un, the supreme leader of North Korea, THREE times. In September, groups of South Korea celebrities, entrepreneurs visited North Korea. Singing, laughing, and holding hands. We support the peaceful denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. However, the issue of human rights and the dignity of 6 lives cannot be held back as a price for maintaining diplomatic relations. In 2020, North Korea blew up the joint liaison office with South in Kaesong which was opened as a result of 2018 inter-Korean summit.

In 2018 May, the World watched President Trump greeting 3 repatriated Americans at the airport. Our hearts were full of gratitude for their safe return.  But we cannot stop asking the question, why are 6 South Koreans still detained in North Korea after 7 years of imprisonment of brutal labour?

Let us not WAIT!

We believe Peace without HUMAN RIGHT is a FALSE PEACE.

Join us in urging United Nations Human Rights Council, Speaker of National Assembly, and the Blue House the following:

  1. Open active diplomatic negotiation with North Korea addressing repatriate of 6 South Koreas
  2. Confirm the lives and health situation of 6 south Korean detainees from North Korea
  3. Present a detailed action plan for repatriate of 6 South Korean detained in North Korea
