What is the Paycheck Fairness Act? The Paycheck Fairness Act ensures that “wage discrimination is being enforced” (National Partnership Organization). It makes sure women can compare their salaries with men, and negotiate a better salary. Most of all, the Paycheck Fairness act gives attention to almost every aspect necessary to equal pay for women, including companies to share what they pay to their employees, to make sure their are no gender-based “disparities” on salaries, and employers recognizing that women and men deserve the same (National Partnership Organization). The Equal Pay Act was brought out in 1963, but made no substantial impact to the gender pay gap for 50 years. The Paycheck Fairness Act amends the Equal Pay Act and makes sure that “wage discrimination” policies are carried out adequately.
