Why this petition matters

Started by Ron Citlau

Dear Governor Pritzker,

First of all I want you to know that our church is praying for you daily and that we stand 100% behind you. We have been instructing our members and attenders to listen to the local government. We are instructing our older members and attenders to stay at home; we are providing services to make sure this happens. We stopped having open Services last Sunday and streamed our service.

We assume that within the next few days that the state of Illinois will implement some kind of shut down I can to what is happening in New York State and the state of California. We are asking for an exemption for faith based institutions in the state to be able to gather needed personnel to stream online services.

As you know, faith based communities are fundamental to the social fabric and to the psychological health of any society. In the last 10 days our church has interacted with thousands of Illinois citizens through a variety of online mediums. We have interviewed emergency room doctors, provided information and help for people in need or affected by the virus, given spiritual hope and also provided relational relief for those who are isolated. We believe that this is an essential service and depending upon the length of this outbreak, a fundamental way to serve the citizens of Illinois.

If there’s anyway I or my church, please let me know. Thank you for considering our request for religious exemption to create online content.

Rev. Ron Citlau
