Why this petition matters

Started by Contractor waivers

We are Locally Owned & Operated Asphalt Paving / Construction Companies.

Construction companies are seriously suffering since  Governor Gretchen Whitmer deemed all Construction non-essential in Michigan! Many of us are small seasonal businesses with no other source of income December-April and our work season was barely getting started when we were ordered to shutdown. Opening season is crucial for us; our businesses, families and employees depend on it! Other States are still allowing Asphalt/Construction to continue; NJ, CT, DE, MD & VA to name a few. We work outside with 400 degree Hot Asphalt when working on driveways, parking lots, or any other projects we are contracted to do. We do not need to be in close proximity with our customers or employees, and we do not need to go into their homes or confined spaces. we would greatly appreciate a waiver!  Liquor Stores are still open, Candy Factories are deemed essential, how are these life sustaining businesses? Stimulus Checks and Unemployment Benefits will not cover the high overhead costs of owning a construction company, let alone everyday living expenses of families! We are expected to take out SBA Loans and go into more debt to cover our existing debts just to make it, which is even more debt for us seasonal businesses that have been unemployed in the Northeast since last November! Please help us, we do not have an endless supply of funds to wait this out and there is only so many months in our work season to save for winter bills and expenses. We have families to provide for, that is ESSENTIAL! Allow us to go back to work and follow any protocols that will ensure the health and safety of our employees and customers! Please SIGN & SHARE our petition! Sharing our petition will spread the word quickly!!

Thanks for your help.
