Motorsport discrimination to spectators of certain sporting events in the UK after the Government announcement to delay lockdown easing from 21 June to 19 July. Motorsport events have restricted numbers of spectators while Wembley is allowed to fill a stadium with 40,000 football spectators and tennis matches are allowed to fill a centre court at Wimbledon, but Oulton Park race track, that can accommodate 35,000 people outside, without sitting in grandstands, is only allowed 4000 spectators.  

Health implications The Government has stated previously that being outdoors massively reduces the risk of catching the virus and that fresh air disperses and dilutes the virus, the wellbeing of motorsport followers who, for the last 18 months, have not been able to attend an event, has been taking a toll, albeit quietly, behind the chanting football supporters who get their sport started again, the unreasonableness of this is now being voiced and the Government needs to consider minority groups of sports fans. 

Cost and loss to British Sporting events The organisers of the British Superbike Championship continued to put the event on in 2020 without one single spectator being present, this cannot have been sustainable but such is the love of this sport and the people contained in it.  The 2021 championship start was delayed from April to 25 June to coincide with lockdown easing and for spectators to return to the huge green fields of many loved circuits such as Brands Hatch.  Many, if not most, racing teams rely on sponsorship and private funding, without the revenue from spectators these teams will decline, the tracks will close and so will start the decline of many historical events and venues.  The Government gives zero monetary funding to British racing but will be giving it a big shove in its demise. 

ALLOW SPECTATORS TO BRITISH MOTORSPORTS EVENTS BEFORE 19 JULY 2021
