Our Local Government in Coquitlam has become UNAFFORDABLE!
Why this petition matters
On December 6th, Coquitlam City Council will vote on a massive $75 MILLION DOLLAR spending package, costing Coquitlam residents millions of dollars in property tax increases. This massive growth of government comes as private citizens emerge from the global pandemic with our cost of living increasing at an 18-year high. We MUST remind Coquitlam city council who their masters are. We must tell them they work for Coquitlam residents - not an ever-expanding bureaucracy!
This massive expansion at Coquitlam city hall includes new management including:
Intergovernmental relations manager - Salary $138,100
Privacy analyst - Salary $110,900
New City planner - Salary $101,200
Deputy city manager in-house lawyer - Salary $159,700
plus $159,700 transitional funding
8 new position in the Utilities division, - Salaries $613,100

A new manager of diversity, equity and inclusion -Salary $184,800
8 new full time position in the Parks Department -Salaries $460,300

We have until December 6th to send our message to Coquitlam City Council to hold-the-line on spending. Please sign this petition if you agree.
