In an NME article posted today, 3/26/2021, Gorillaz announced they will be producing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of collectibles in celebration of their 20th anniversary. This is ironic considering the horrible astronomical effects the creation of NFTs has on the environment, and how this is against everything the band has stood for in the past with the release of their 3rd studio album Plastic Beach - an album protesting pollution and environmental degradation.

Gorillaz and the messages in their music and art has meant a lot to me through the years as a fan, as I'm sure it has for thousands of others. I believe Eleven Mgmt's (their management) and Warner Music's (their label) decision to create NFTs in collaboration with Superplastic based off the art of Gorillaz is misinformed at best and goes against what Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have originally created. I want to get the point across that the Gorillaz community is largely against the production of NFTs and that we value the message from Plastic Beach. 

After signing and sharing this petition you can also help by contacting the Gorillaz team, their label, and Superplastic. Tell them you are against the production of any NFTs based on the image of Gorillaz and how creating them negatively reflects on their image as a band.
