Why this petition matters

Deptford, Greenwich, Charlton and Woolwich are undergoing an impressive amount of redevelopment that is completely transforming the demographics of the area. The increase in population density is not being met by a significant improvement of transport services.

Specifically, the Southeastern railway franchise keeps getting short term extensions that hold back much needed investment, resulting in extremely crowded trains at peak hours and an unreliable service.

We believe that the service on this line needs to be managed within a more coherent TFL strategy, reflecting the city commuter purpose of this line, with operations transferred to London Overground. A TFL managed service will see proper accounting of rider numbers, an increase in fare collection and critically will allow the introduction of higher passenger capacity with the LO trains walk-through and side seating layout.
