Public education advocates across Ohio were stunned by the failure of State Senators Matt Huffman and Matt Dolan to take up what was widely expected to pass: the bi-partisan “Fair School Funding” bill (SB 376) that would finally address the state’s inequitable school funding formula that was ruled unconstitutional 23 years ago by the Ohio Supreme Court.

The Ohio House of Representatives passed the proposed new plan (HB 305) by a huge margin earlier in December, but the Ohio Senate Finance Committee, chaired by Sen. Dolan, did not even hold open hearings on the Senate's companion bill, introduced as Senate Bill 376.
