“Corrective Rape” is a hatecrime that involves parents and other family members raping young people in an attempt to “cure” them of their homosexuality. This issue has been going unnoticed for years and it’s time to make a change. 

A small group of LGBTQIA+ individuals, including activist Angeline Jackson, have come forward with descriptions of their experiences with Corrective Rape. The most infected areas seem to be India and Jamaica, though many more countries may be involved. We have minimal information on this topic as of now, which is most likely due to the fact that other victims may be hesitant or afraid to come forward.

With this petition, we can be the voice for the voiceless. Rape is never justifiable regardless of the victim’s nationality, religion, gender, age, or sexuality. This is not a something that should be tolerated or ignored any longer—especially when the virtues and possibly lives of young LGBTQIA+ children around the world are on the receiving end of it. 

Many of these children are being forced to engage in multiple sexual activities (such as oral and penetrative sex) with their own family members, the people they’re supposed to be able to trust to keep them safe.
