hello everyone my name is jordan, last year i learnt about an area in cape town called the “cape flats” also known as the northern cape (sorry if i got it wrong) i watched a documentary about the life of a child inside this gang riddled area (documentary link: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bsFE_jXPzNE ) it breaks my heart to hear about how these kids are trained to deal with gang disruption everyday, the bullets go flying through the air and have been known to penetrate the walls and even injury the students. i think the government has been quiet about this whole tragedy since lockdown started seeing as they did completely restrict movement in and out through the cape flats which is having devastating effects, there needs to be more money funded into the safety and education of the children living in the cape flats, when these children grow up with little to no qualifications due to lack of education they will most lightly turn to gangs for means of profit and safety, please please save these children, give them a future. i’m begging you, this has been going on for so long and it really hurts to see this. i am a 16 year old white girl from durban and i accept my privilege, i want to use that privilege to help spread awareness for these children, please can something be done to protect the children of the cape flats.
