The pupils and staff St Dominic's Primary have been let down by NLC, who announced a housing development has been approved on adjacent land they were told was secured for sports/nature activities.

About 12 months after St Dominic's was destroyed by a fire in 2015, the Parent Council were shown a presentation about the new school building.  At that time we were told there would be a football pitch and nature zone. 

As you can imagine, the news that North Lanarkshire Council will no longer meet this commitment has came as a total shock for the parent committee however it's our kids that are being let down.

We were told that each of the three new schools recently built in Airdrie would have the same state of the art indoor and outdoor facilities. Our school has waited long and patiently enough for the outdoor facilities, only to be told it won't be going ahead. Our school has a small concrete playground which isn't ideal and restricts our children from gaining the health, wellbeing and environmental benefits of having a dedicated outdoor sports area and nature zone.

North Lanarkshire Council have completely pushed us to the side and we are looking for your support to reverse their decision. Please sign our petition and share with friends and family as we need all the support we can to hopefully turn this decision around.
