Why this petition matters

Started by Carol Maddox

Pennsylvania Textile mills have been ordered to close as non-essential. These include companies providing the fabrics needed to make masks and other medical personal protective equipment (PPE) which is desperately needed by medical personnel across the country (and around the world) during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Without these fabrics manufacturers will not be able to continue producing this vital equipment.

Countless cut and sew businesses, and people who know how to sew are making masks for healthcare personnel and for the community. We must keep the fabric mills in operation to provide the fabrics needed for this critical work.

The government of Pennsylvania has issued a list of non-essential businesses which must close, this list includes textile mills and other manufacturers involved in production of fabrics and PPE:  https://bit.ly/2QzPSz1

Governor Wolf of Pennsylvania we urge you to remove essential textile making/processing units and cut and sew units from this list and allow them to continue making desperatly needed medical masks and gowns, as well as to provide fabrics to other operations across the country and around the world.
