OMNIPRESENCE NURSERY SCHOOL

WHY ARE THE EARLY YEARS NURSERIES/CHILDMINDERS UNDERVALUED AND UNDERPAID ?

WHY IS EARLY YEARS EDUCATION NOT FREE FOR PARENTS ?

WHY ARE EARLY YEARS / NURSERIES / CHILDMINDERS ETC NOT FUNDED THE SAME AS PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS BUT ASKED TO DELIVER THE SAME LEVEL OF EDUCATION, WHICH WE DO!

We don’t want just to survive these current difficult & challenging times we want to take this opportunity to make early years education free to all parents and to champion nurseries & nursery workers across the country being valued.

In what was already a financially exhausted sector the government introduced the 30-hr entitlement and nurseries found themselves in an ever-increasing financial decline.  Having to put additional costs onto parents to cover the shortfall received from the government.

For Example, we / nursery receive £ 3.93 per hour, when the costs per hour is £5.00.

The £3.93 is meant to pay for all aspects of providing childcare.

·       Wages – Minimum wage rate is £8.72 per hour

·       Educational Resources

·       Training

·       Utilities

·       Cleaning & Maintenance

·       Insurance

·       Rent

·       Tax

Nurseries today are so much more, we are educators, social workers and carers.  We must be fully qualified to look after and educate our children.  We are not paid the same rate as a teacher or teachers assistant.  Why are nurseries not valued the same as schools?  When it comes to child development, it’s been said that the most crucial milestones in a child’s life occur by the age of 7 years. In fact, the great Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “Give me a child until he is 7 years old  and I will show you the man.”

·       Why are we not supported financially as the schools are?

·       Why are parents having to pay for this essential early year’s education?

·       Why is free education only received from the age of 5 years?

·       Why does a family’s financial status limit their eligibility to access the 30 hr entitlement?

The actions of the government and local authorities undermine and undervalue the service we offer. This has  never more apparent than now during the current coronavirus pandemic. This message needs to get out there, as so many good nurseries will not survive this current situation. The children, who are our future are put in jeopardy when their schooling is not valued. Nurseries provide the foundations that our children’s education is built upon.

Join us The Omnipresence Nursery School as we take the plight/campaign for all Nursery Early Year’s Educators across the country to parliament.

These changes need to be made now, we need to put the children first, but we cannot do that without your support.

WE NEED TO BE DIFFERENT GOING FORWARD…
