Why this petition matters

Started by Swiss Kelly

In a recent study, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) predicted that by 2030, the demand for doctors will outstrip the supply and that the United States of America will experience a shortage of up to 121 300 physicians . The physician shortage is increasing steadily throughout the nation and will influence the delivery of healthcare, thus affecting patient outcomes negatively. International Medical Graduates plays important role in the health system of America,

The fifth pathway program was a method of obtaining a physician license to practice medicine in the United States. According to the American Medical Association, the fifth pathway is "an avenue by which students who have attended four years at a foreign medical school may complete their supervised clinical work at a U.S. medical school, become eligible for entry to U.S. residency training, and ultimately obtain a license to practice in the U.S. The Fifth Pathway program was discontinued by the AMA as of June 30, 2009.

In view of this, we are edging the American Medical Association to bring back the Fifth pathway program so as to help solve the Doctor shortage in America.
