Victorian State Government must consider options to reopen Hazelwood Pondage
Why this petition matters
SAVE HAZELWOOD PONDAGE
The unique Hazelwood Pondage is currently closed for public use. The Pondage has been an iconic feature within the Latrobe Valley for many decades and there are real fears that it will never reopen without State Government support and intervention.
Due to wall structure integrity concerns, water levels were reduced by Pondage owners Engie and subsequently the public was banned from using this body of water. This closure has impacted many individuals, businesses, residents and organisations including the Latrobe Valley Yacht Club and its “Sailability” program which provides sailing opportunities for persons with a disability.
There are solutions to the current issues and the petitioners call upon the Victorian State Government to work with Engie, Latrobe City Council and the community to collectively use their powers to reopen and retain Hazelwood Pondage for current and future generations to enjoy!!
