Leave historic monuments in place in New York City.
Leave historic monuments in place in New York City.
Why this petition matters
We the people of the United States demand that you leave historic monuments in their chosen place. Particularly we demand that the statue of President Theodore Roosevelt and Christopher Columbus not be moved or damaged in any way. We also demand a rigorous defense of these monuments be put in place and that any individuals attempting to deface, damage or remove them be arrested and brought to justice.
These monuments belong to all the citizens of the United States and cannot be arbitrarily removed on the basis of a renegade mob's demands. These are priceless works of art that have tremendous symbolic meaning and historic value to the vast majority of citizens of this country. They cannot be removed for political expediency by politicians imposing their temporal, capricious will.
We the people demand that these important historic monuments not be removed, covered or altered in any manner. They are part of our vital and sacred heritage. To do damage to them in any way is a desecration of our proud history.
