Why this petition matters
Petition to allow restaurants in Anne Arundel County to proceed with indoor dining.
On December 12th 2020, County Executive Steuart Pittman announced Executive Order #39 a complete closure of indoor dining to take effect on Wednesday December 16th for Anne Arundel County restaurants.
In response, the Maryland Restaurant Coalition joins in support of the Plantiff’s, who in their legal action, ask to block forced closures on [restricted capacity] indoor dining.
While it is clear that restricted capacity is necessary in continued efforts to socially distance during COVID-19, published statistics in the greater Anne Arundel County area do not show a present spike in cases related to indoor dining in comparison to other industries allowed to remain open.
Should County Executive Pittman’s order be allowed to persist it would have a disastrous and irrevocable impact on the restaurant industry and on thousands of Anne Arundel county workers and familiesresidents.
Therefore, as a member of the community, and in support of vendors, employees, owners, and operators of restaurants in the greater Anne Arundel County area, - I have signed this petition to allow restaurants in Anne Arundel County to proceed with indoor dining under the appropriate restrictions.
