Why this petition matters

Started by Autism NI

As 1 in 30 children are being diagnosed with autism in Northern Ireland, it is critical that our children are given the support they are entitled to at school. We want them to have the best possible start in life and the best educational outcomes. No child with autism should miss out on a full and supportive education.

Many of our teachers in Northern Ireland feel overwhelmed with the lack of training and resources they are given to teach autistic children. We are therefore calling for the Department of Education to introduce mandatory autism training for all teaching staff within mainstream schools.

Autism NI has been consistently lobbying for this over the past year and change is URGENTLY NEEDED.

Autism NI is asking YOU to 'Sign' and 'Share' this to show our decision-makers what needs to be done!

We have organised a campaign rally for our parents and supporters on Wednesday 11th September 2019 at Parliament Buildings, Stormont at 10am to officially hand over this petition.
