We are urging people to help us stop the planned works for building new private tower blocks in Ilford on the corner of South Park Drive/Loxford Lane.

The reason we strongly believe this petition is necessary is because Ilford already suffers from very high population density, air pollution, shortages of available doctor appointments, noise pollution, and a severe shortage of parking. Adding these flats will compound the issue and make the problems even worse as no additional school and GP facilities are being considered. The burden on our public services is already high enough without the introduction of these large tower blocks.  

The towers will be built right next to Loxford School where our children study, play, and spend the happiest times of their childhood. As parents, many of us are deeply concerned that adding more pollution in our town will lead to health problems in our kids as there is a definite causal link between air pollution and childhood respiratory diseases.  

In addition to the above problems, we, the local residents, are also very concerned with the invasion of our privacy. The council has confirmed that the big tower blocks are for private sale and will have balconies. This means that people from higher floors will easily be able to see into our homes and back gardens and the only feedback we got for this was that some of the trees will hide the view; which is completely untrue! Surely having our privacy and peace of mind within our own homes is not too much to ask from our local council?  

At our council meeting, we discovered that the proposition for building these private tower blocks had already received 21 responses from local residents but these responses were not disclosed to us.

Signing this petition means you're helping us preserve what little doctor appointments, air quality, parking, and school places we are already in short supply of. It also means you are helping us fight back against the increasing strain being placed on our public services. The people of this area have already had to endure all these shortages for so long but we are finally uniting and speaking up because there is only so much we can take.
