Why this petition matters

Missouri Constitution, Article 1, Section 14:

That the courts of justice shall be open to every person, and certain remedy afforded for every injury to person, property or character, and that right and justice shall be administered without sale, denial or delay.

“The value of openness lies in the fact that people not actually attending can have confidence that standards of fairness are being observed; the sure knowledge that anyone is free to attend gives assurance that established procedures are being followed and that deviations will become known. Openness thus enhances both the basic fairness of and the appearance of fairness so essential to public confidence in the system.”

Over the last number of months, courts are being systematically closed to the public by Judges who appear to have an agenda by creating their own version of the Missouri Constitution for their own personal gain. Judges have forgotten that they are civil servants that cannot create laws but only uphold them. Secret closed hearings run by Judges, who think they are above the law, is a clear abuse of their appointment.

All courts must be open to the public. Protect the Missouri Constitution by signing this petition!
