Why this petition matters

Started by NJsmall.com

Dear Governor Murphy,

Pre-COVID, New Jersey's small businesses accounted for 49.1% of of the state's workforce. It is predicted that, unless small businesses recover quickly, our economy will not recover until 2023. To help New Jersey rebuild and recover as quickly as possible, we are asking for tax incentives that would encourage big NJ businesses to hire small NJ businesses.

Small businesses employ our families, our friends, and our neighbors…who can then come off of unemployment, earn money to buy products and services, and stimulate NJ’s economy as quickly as possible. Large businesses will benefit from the more robust local economy and build stronger ties to the small business community -- and they might even save some money in the process.

While the federal government put in place small business relief opportunities like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), this is only a temporary relief and only a fraction of small businesses were fortunate enough to receive PPP funding. New Jersey's economy needs a different solution; one that can provide immediate and long-lasting help. Encouraging New Jersey's big businesses to hire our small businesses will help to make our state a better place and help businesses large and small succeed together. Hiring #NJsmall is better for all. njsmall.com

Sincerely,

Denise Blasevick and Adam Schnitzler on behalf of New Jersey's small businesses
