Why this petition matters

Started by Truth About Talc

We are asking you to join our pledge to #TosstheTalc, not just for your personal safety, but for the safety of women and children across the globe. Talc is a mineral found in many U.S. consumer products such as baby powder, cosmetics, laundry detergent and deodorant. Many countries have banned talc due to serious health risks, but companies are still producing, and profiting, from talc in the United States.

Talc can be detrimental to one's health for a myriad of reasons, but these are a few:

  • Women who use talcum powder for feminine hygiene are at a significantly greater risk for developing ovarian cancer
  • 1 in 53 female talc users will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year
  • Talcum powders can also be contaminated with asbestos, nickel, lead and many other dangerous, difficult-to-detect elements
  • Cornstarch-based powders are just as effective, with no health risks

22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the United States this year. Show your support, and help reduce that number, by promising to live talc-free. The Truth About Talc is determined to inform as many women as possible about the dangers of talc, and we ask you to #TosstheTalc and share this information with your friends and loved ones.

Will you #TosstheTalc?
