Why this petition matters
PROTECT PASTURES YOUTH AND SPORTS CENTRE FROM REDEVELOPMENT
We are a community-based campaign to protect the Pastures Youth and Sports Centre, Good Shepherd Building, and their grounds in Leytonstone, east London, from redevelopment by Waltham Forest Council.
An independent report by Sport England has identified a shortfall in provision of sports halls in the borough. We believe the existing Pastures buildings and site have long suffered from under-investment by Waltham Forest Council and lacked promotion to potential community users.
The site also has a rich ecology, including mature trees and threatened wildlife.
We want the Council to work with us to make these facilities the basis of a multicultural, social resource to meet the current and future needs of our local community, and a vibrant hub to engage and inspire young people.
