Why this petition matters

Started by liz martin

In May 2020, it was announced that hair salons may open but only to service "Essential Employees" with restrictions and guidelines that will only harm the cosmetology industry. Many owners have decided not to open because it is almost impossible to make a profit.

On top of that, spas, medical spas, massage, and nail salons were NOT included in the opening. Further more injuring the ability of salons to make a profit as alot of them offer these services in addition to hair. This petition is to bring light to the fact that our cosmetology industry has one of the highest levels of training in sanitation and disease control. For years we have all taken pride in the fact that we know how to protect the public from disease and viruses. In fact, we were not able to be licensed until we had a thorough understanding of such.

If businesses can open at 30% capacity on June 1st, a lot of owners won't be losing their dreams. New spas have been built recently and this is proving to be detrimental to their progress. Some might not even make it until July.

By signing this petition, there is a chance that YOU will be able to save many cosmetology businesses from imenent failure. We will be able to abide by better sanitation guidelines then most retail stores that are allowed to open. We have all been specialy trained to keep the health of the public our top priority, even before the Covid19 Pandemic hit.

Thank you for helping small business owners all over Delaware keep their dreams alive.

If anyone outside of a medical setting knows how to run a clean business, its COSMETOLOGY!!!!
