A pregnant wild elephant was intentionally killed viciously in Palakkad district, Kerala, India.

This heart piercing incident happened recently when some locals of Palakkad district of Kerala, India fed her with pineapple stuffed with firecrakers. YES Firecrackers! .

The elephant left the forests of Sillent Valley, Palakkad district in Kerala wandering into nearby village in search of food where she was intentionally fed with firecracker stuffed pineapple which then exploded in her mouth and left her in severe pain as she walked around the village for days, without eating anything because of her mouth pierced injuries.

The forest officer who posted the matter on Facebook, said the elephant, with her insides ripped, tongue and mouth injured, had wandered around for days before walking into the Velliyar river in Palakkad district, where she died in a standing position.

Farmers are known to keep pineapples and other fruits stuffed with firecrackers to kill wild boars that ravage the crops. Under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act, capturing, trapping, poisoning or baiting of any wild animal or even attempting to do so carry a fine of upto 25,000 or a jail term of upto seven years, or both.

But is it a right punishment for this brutal killing. Definitely not.

Imagine a mother’s situation when that fruit exploded, she would have been stunned not about herself,it must’ve been about the child she was carrying in her.

 And this all happens in some parts of Kerala where locals or farmers use firecracker hidden in some food items or mixed with food to chase away wild animals that they find harmful .

No one could bear such cruelty to animals. Raise your voice by signing this petition if you have a heart to think of the mute ones who are a part of our nature and us too. This petition must reach all the concerned authorities including Kerala government and Indian government so that justice could reach a creature as similar as we are ,and severe punishment should be given to those inhumans.
