Why this petition matters
There are news about the LPT:
A punch in the face for all animal rights activists and suffering animals: The public authority, led by the new Hamburg Senator for justice and consumer protection, Anna Gallina, has licensed the LPT Hamburg, after a judgemennt by the court, to carry out animal experiments again.
The terrible news came yesterday – after two of the three laboratories were closed down more than half a year ago, animals may now be tortured again in the LPT Hamburg.
I call upon the state government in Hamburg to withdraw the LPT's operating license for good!

I have decided to raise my voice for those who have no voice on our planet - the animals. That’s why I have opened this petition.
On October 11th, the SOKO Animal Welfare and Cruelty Free International published images and investigations about the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology ("LPT").
The LPT is an experimental laboratory in which approximately 12,000 animals (including beagles, monkeys, cats and rabbits) are systematically tormented and misused as test objects for industrial and agricultural chemicals. This makes the LPT one of the largest animal testing laboratories in the EU.
The monkeys live in small cages, many of them have developed compulsive behaviours and only move in circles. Their heads are kept fixed for trials and they are often punished, and suffer bloody injuries.
The beagles only see humans during feeding times or when they are picked up for the experiments. And even then, they happily wag their tails, even though they are in need of more human care.
The rest of the time, they are in a vegetative state in their cages, which are covered in blood from the tests, until the moment they die lonely and in pain.
Most of these studies end in death, after which many of them are literally slaughtered and end up in garbage bags.
The LPT has operated for years in the greatest secrecy, external views and visits were undesirable and were rejected.
We all know now why!
When I think about how many animals are suffering at this moment behind the walls of the LPT and experiencing hell on earth, everything in me contracts. No creature deserves to be treated like that and to die in this way!
Therefore, we demand the immediate closure of the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology in Hamburg and Mienenbüttel by the authorities.
