On June 5th, or potentially before, a video that began on Tiktok went viral. It featured a girl singing to a popular Tiktok audio, before the video suddenly cut off and showed a different girl being murdered in a bathtub by a man. Horrifyingly, this is not unusual for Tiktok, as there have been other equally violent videos that have suddenly gone viral. Tiktok has chosen to do nothing about these sorts of videos, instead taking down body positivity videos and even just simple videos of women wearing bikinis.

Tiktok needs to take accountability. They have millions of children, some as young as eight or ten, on their app who have now seen this video and will have to deal with enduring trauma and potential nightmares for years. No one wants to see these sorts of videos, not even adults, but Tiktok continually chooses to ignore us when we ask them to do better.

This is the last straw. Not only do we want justice for that poor girl, but we want Tiktok to step up and begin focusing on the real issues running rampant on their app. We want them to block these types of violent, horrifying videos before they're allowed to go viral. To do this, all they need to do is change their algorithm to target potentially violent and dangerous videos, and take them down before people can see them. 

This video has now gone viral on Tiktok and YouTube, as well as being spread across Instagram, Twitter and Facebook through personal DMs and links. If Tiktok had done something sooner, this wouldn't have happened. 

Tiktok, take responsibility and do better for the children on your app.
