Pro-West Savannah Advocates and the Weeping Time Coalition are in OPPOSITION of the Special Use Permit voted on by Savannah City Council. The Special Use Permit would give the Salvation Army the ability to build a homeless shelter on the property that is known to be the location for the WEEPING TIME (the largest slave sale in American history).

We as a coalition feel that this is NOT the highest and best use of the property. Additionally, we believe that the project does not honor the historical significance of the Weeping Time property.

We are creating this petition to accomplish the following goals:

• Ensure that the Sacred Weeping Time Property boundaries are officially        recognized 
• Preserve the Weeping Time property as a Community Asset
• Create a memorial tourism destination
