Why this petition matters

Mrs Bennet and her husband George provided bait services to glynn county for 68 years. She was an amazing person who always treated fisherman fairly and provided this service when others did not.  Thousands of fisherman have amazing stories about her.

My favorite story was one day early in my charter career, I was maybe 22 years old.  I was running late and needed some live shrimp. I left my wallet at home and she said dont worry just pay me next time. I was so relieved now I wasn't going to miss my charter. On my way home I stopped back in to her place, I just got a tip after my charter. I tried to pay her but she saw some sea trout sticking out of my cooler and wanted those instead of cash. She told me to keep my money.  She was a very special person.

Shirley was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and was the owner of George’s Live Bait on the FJ Torras Causeway for 68 years. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. Shirley enjoyed playing bingo, shopping at Walmart and selling shrimp.

I know this would be an amazing remembrance for a local icon and her family.
