Justice For NHS nurse Sheila Magudu
Justice For NHS nurse Sheila Magudu
Why this petition matters
Sheila Magudu was an NHS nurse at the University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust for 8 years from October 2003- May 2011. On May 6th, she was racially attacked by fellow staff member whilst attending to a patient . The perpetrator hit Sheila with great force using a heavy duty bedpan on her buttocks and thighs. As a result she sustained bilateral hamstring injuries and the impact damaged her lower back.
The hospital refused to take any action as they believed what the perpetrator did was outside her Contract of Employment and she was essentially “on a frolic of her own”. The perpetrator later on apologised to Sheila and described the attack as “banter” . It has been 9 years since the attack and Sheila is now permanently disabled as a result of the attack and the perpetrator is still working at the hospital with no disciplinary action taken. The Police refused to investigate leading to no conviction. An in-house investigation was flawed and unacceptable.
Sheila is asking for a Transparent and Independent Investigation that will cover the Trust and the Police.
With these life changing injuries, Sheila is not able to work and she must be compensated for the suffering she is going through. #JusticeForSheilaMagudu
