Years ago, memes were not simple, lonely posts on facebook or (insert social media here) Memes were funny, popular, and most importantly, surreal. A surreal meme is, according to Know Your Meme, Surreal Memes are a subgenre of Ironic Memes that are artistically bizarre in appearance and whose humor derives from their absurd style. Though the difference between Surreal Memes and Deep Fried Memes and Dank Memes is subtle, certain qualities and characters, such as Layers of Irony, Meme Man, Mr. Orange, and a minimalist style, are frequent markers of a Surreal Meme. Surreal memes are still out there, half alive, on the surreal memes wiki, and many other sites, but they are dying. Memers now make non surreal memes, Surreal meme wiki memebers are leaving (see what I did), and people forget these historic, perfect memes.
