Disney should treat Roma with the same dignity as other groups.

It is unacceptable that Disney ignores the terrible and racist depiction of Romani people in their movies. They need to treat this racist history with a growth mind set like they have for other groups. This starts by them acknowledging past mistakes. 

Disney needs to but disclaimer before Movies that negatively depict Roma or uses G*psy. These movies include but are not limited to The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996 film), Pinocchio (1940 film), and The Haunted Mansion (2003 film).

Disney has already made it clear that slurs are not okay. If it is not okay for other groups, it should also not be okay for Roma. While some Romani people aim to retake the slur. Disney’s use of the slur is not okay.

This petition asks for a tool to educate people and warn people who don’t want to be exposed to the slurs. This petition is not for the removal of these depictions. This petition agrees with the disclaimer:

"This program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now. Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it, and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together."

Disney’s failure to treat Roma with dignity and respect should be addressed, especially if Disney is serious about their "ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion."

Disney needs to add the disclaimer now!
