I personally suffer from mental illness and cannabis has helped me tremendously. I want to know what I'm buying safely and legally. The government should be focusing on the drugs that kill such as, heroin and meth. Which are extremely bad problems all throughout the United States. Drug overdose deaths rose from 16,849 in 1999 to 70,237 in 2017. Cannabis was responsible for none of those deaths (links at bottom). The government is wasting it's money, time and resources into this law as a result. 

Cannabis can be used to treat many diseases and conditions such as, Alzheimer's disease, appetite loss, cancer, Crohn's disease, eating disorders such as anorexia, epilepsy, glaucoma, mental health conditions like stress disorders (PTSD), multiple sclerosis, muscle spasms, nausea, pain, wasting syndrome (cachexia) and more.

About 85% of Americans support legalizing medical marijuana, and it is estimated that at least several million Americans currently use it.

It is a crime against humanity to be locked in prison for a plant that has been used in several cultures for thousands of years. Cannabis had no physically addicting effects, as well nobody has ever died from an overdose unlike alcohol or prescription opioids.   

For 80+ years the US has banned the use and sale of cannabis in many states. The reason for this was to target the influx of minorities coming into America who smoked cannabis recreationally. The DEA also ranks marijuana as a schedule 1 drug next to heroin and crack. Mainly the reason for this is because they're hasn't been a large enough study by the FDA to recognize the medicinal uses. By keeping cannabis illegal it's supporting a law founded on racism and discrimination. The government must admit it has made a mistake with cannabis and move forward with legalization.  

North Carolina needs to start taking steps with legalizing cannabis as it will be a major cash crop, and overall help people such as me.

Let's erase the stigma and legalize!
