Stop creating cycle lanes by sacrificing usable Road space
Stop creating cycle lanes by sacrificing usable Road space
Why this petition matters
The already narrow arterial roads and junctions in Leeds are being further narrowed to create segregated cycle lanes. Even the busiest and congested junctions that provide direct access to the motorway network are not spared.
A typical example is the Clay pit Lane - Sheepscar Junction. Motorists from the northern Suburbs of Leeds need this junction to access the Motorway network. There is no other easy alternate route. This junction was in urgent need of major upgrade either my means of seamless flyovers or underpasses
But instead the city council decided to further congest the junction by creating segregated cycle lanes in both directions. There is absolutely no necessity to sacrifice road lanes to create space for segregated cycle lanes.
I am sure other readers will agree and may even have witnessed this at other major arterial roads in Leeds being destroyed by appalling planning by the Leeds City council.
This is scandalous, as the council promotes clean air zone but simultaneously creates traffic bottlenecks and congestion which will inevitably worsen the pollution. Or is it that they plan use this data (in few years time), which in the first place was of their own making as evidence to push for chargeable clean air zone.
Please support and sign the petition asking Leeds Council to stop this nuisance immediately. There are compelling reasons for a judicial review if the council does not budge.
